Excursion Drone is gone!!!!

I installed the Diamond 4 inch exhaust some time ago. I have lived with the drone because MOST of the time I am driving. Finally my son asked why it was so loud when sitting in the back and I knew that it was time to get rid of the drone.

I did some research and came across FTE Diesel and the design of their resonators was very intruiging.

https://store.ftediesel.com/home/vie...p?idCategory=8

I purchased the 30 inch resonator, had it in 2 days and got it installed yesterday. I have NO drone now!!! I LOVE IT.

So far no EGT changes and yes the exhaust is quieter, but I am happy with it.

I would encourage anyone that is having this same issue, to look into this company and what they offer. Top notch!!

Where in the exhaust did you install it? I have a 4 in MBRP (Turbo back) and the drone is pretty bad in the back seat. Turbine whine is also plenty high as well. Did you hear any noticeable difference in turbine noise?

Thanks for the input, D

exhaust

As directed, I put it directly on the downpipe. I had to cut the exhaust pipe itself to make it shorter but was really no big deal.

The drone is gone and IN the truck, I hear no turbo whine. Outside, very very little.

It is honestly night and day and I can listen to my radio at half the level I had to before.

Your ears and anyone else that sits in the back of that truck will thank you. I will say that it was worth the $140 I paid to get it to my house.

I know this is totally OT but we both have 2wd's, What shocks are you running and and do you have a sway bar or have you done the spring swap?? I am asling becasue my ex rides like crap. I think I over done it by adding a sway bar and maybe theses shocks. It did not ride like this a year ago. LOL thanks

Hey there. I got home after dark so no picture. It really is easy to picture mentally. There is a down pipe off the turbo. This resonator would attach directly to the downpipe and then the rest of the exhaust should be connected behind it.

Regarding the shocks, I put the adjustable Rancho socks on mine. With the right adjustments, it floats on down the road!!

That's what I have. I must have other issues. It maybe the sway bar on a 2wd. I must not realize how much room I have down there coming off the down pipe. Do you have a muffler as well?

I do have a muffler.

If you put your exhaust on yourself, it starts at the turbo with the downpipe. The downpipe stops right at the front side passenger side of the transmission. This is where I put the resonator. Then a straight piece of pipe into the muffler. Then it curves over the rear end and out the truck.

Sephen - Thanks for the "visual" and additional info. Mine is straight thru, no muffler so I'm not sure what the real difference would be. It's been a while since I looked at the down pipe but if I remember correctly, there was not a lot of room there and it was a real mother to line up the Turbine flange wiht the downpipe (at leat by myself).

I think that i might be confusing you.

The downpipe from the turbo, is 1 seperate piece that goes down to the side of the transmission. Trust me, there is more than enough room to attach the resonator directly to the downpipe and then connnect the remainder of your exhaust to the other side of the resonator.

What chip are you running in your excursion?

Subscribed. I have the 4" Diamond Eye and have been thinking of doing something similar. I love the loud exhaust but the fam doesn't. Looking forward to pics.

I decided against taking any pictures. There really is no need. It attaches directly the downpipe. Rather simple actually.

Trust me, your family will LOVE you for putting this thing in. I get the advantage of bigger exhaust without the loud sound.
