1953 Panel with 19,920 miles

Some time ago I got some help/direction from some of you on a question I had with this truck. I wanted to post some pictures of what I believe is an exceptional vehicle and has good story behind it. I know those of us that take the time and money to put in this hobby (way of life for some) would probably enjoy these pics.

This truck was driven off the Ford assembly line by my grandfather who purchased it to serve as an ambulance/delivery truck for his Funeral Home in south central Illinois. This truck spent most of it's life in a garage and made trips back and forth to St. Louis to pick up "shipments" and deliver flowers to the surrounding churches for funerals, etc. It has just under 20,000 original miles. This truck is all orginal except that it has had one repaint about 20 years ago due to some minor scratches. It does have the 50th anniversary horn button. I am not at all sure what it is worth in dollars but it will be in our family forever and was left to my uncle at the time of may grandfather's death back in 1982.

Wow! I'm impressed. The panel guys will be along shortly, and they will be jealous. That's quite a story/truck you've got there. Don't change a thing. Get us some more pictures.

Thanks for posting these pictures. A real family treasure and a great piece of history. The crispness of that instrument panel is so impressive.

I have my grandfathers truck also, he passed in 86, and I worked @ a funeral home for 10 yrs driving Ford white vans! Very nice, it looks like the rear doors were modified?

Very nice truck. Even better story.
Hopefully it will be in your family for at least another 60 years.
Be sure to drive it around and keep the engine running smoothly.

We always love more pictures.

It even has the stock original seats, including the auxiliary passenger seat. Those seats are priceless! Don't do anything to that truck, except for keeping it maintained and driven.

I am not sure about the rear doors being modified. Why do you think they were? I know that there was a bracket added on the rear wheel well to lock a stretcher in so it would not move.

The truck is 3 hours away so next time I am there I will take more pics of front and engine etc. Probably at Thanksgiving. Thank you for the comments.
