replacing tone ring
...anyways thanks for the help!
Second, this may not be the best forum for the question since this forum is geared towards trucks with the 7.3 Diesel engine.
Third, we are usually pretty helpful so here is my best thought. Considering the truck is a 95 it may use a similar tone ring. In order to replace it, you have to remove the rear gear set. You will need to remove both axles to do so. Once out, you should be able to drive the tone ring off the ring gear
usually the tone ring is pretty reliable unless something breaks and grinds the teeth off. If this happened to you, you may need more than just the tone ring. This is also predicated on the idea that I am remembering the location of the tone ring correctly

pull them out 6-8 inches
pull of diff cover
keep in mind which bearing cap goes where as they are machined to fit
pull the caps
pull out the whole differential it comes out with the bearings make sure they go on the same way
bang off the ring gear with a hammer and a screwdriver
heat up the new one to 400 degrees (easy oven made it super easy took ten minutes and heated it up like a charm without warping it.)
drop it into place
reinstall differential and caps to 85lbs
reinstall axle shafts retighten to 70 lbs
reinstall diff cover i used 1 minute black oil resistant seems to work well
use 75-140 synthetic around 3.5 quarts and if you have a limited slip use 10 ounces of the limited slip differential additive. reinstall fill plug
test it.
this is for the sterling 10.25 dually with the limited slip differential.
i bought mine on 5/21/2023 for around 90$ from ford. before replacing the tone ring i replaced the speed sensor 3 times the psom or speedometer the connections for both but it was the tone ring.
havent seen a list thought id post it. so people can find it quickly since this came up first for my truck. and this is what i learned searching the internet.
My speedo was bouncing a little until about 45mph then after 45 it would go anywhere from 0-85mph every second.
it was a little rusty i cleaned it up but it didnt help so i changed it. Now it's dead steady and works
Beautifully.
Good side
Bad section
