What is with the broken exhaust manifold bolts on these fords?

What is with the broken exhaust manifold bolts on these fords?
Few months ago I picked up a 1987 F-350 460 cu in., 8 broken bolts out of 16 wow.
The truck only has 36k miles on it. Last week I bought a 97 F-350 460 cu. in. don't see any broken bolts but both manifolds have an exhaust leak.Spoke to the mechanic who rebuilt the engine 6 years ago and told me he puts new grade 8 bolts in all ford exhaust manifolds when he rebuilds one. I'm hoping to be able to brake the bolts loose. Does anybody know if there is a better exhaust manifold gasket that will last??
