Never had the romp romp stuff until today

Just trying to pick all y'alls brains today, I have had my truck for 5 winters now, and never had the romps. Today, went out to start it, and it did the romp romp die, romp romp die thing over and over, finally pushed on the gas pedal, and could barely keep it running. Finally started to run normal. Oil was changed about 1k ago, its not synthetic. Do you guys think this may be a sensor going bad? Just filled up with new diesel three days ago, not sure if its winter blend. And, I forgot to add additive to the fuel too. Temp was about 20 degrees, but was as low as 15 last night.

Thanks. I'll keep searching the threads too.

Wanted to add that I left the glow plugs on for about 40 seconds, and verified that the relay was working (stancor), etc.

Start by making sure your GPR is working.

In that temperature range, both my 7.3 F250 and Excursion would romp like a bucking bronco until I switch to Rotella 5/40 synthetic oil. After that, smooth start ups.

Plug it in 2-3 hours before starting - or use a timer. This'll warm the oil and should cure it. Fresh oil will be a little thicker too.

It should still start romp-free at those temps, I suspect you may need new glow plugs or something along those lines. The 5w40 oil will definitley help too, your truck will love you for it.

Sound you had tired injectors. Plug like 30-1 hour it will be fine.

5w40 will help much on that.
