New Guy

Hey everyone, just joined the SoCal chapter and wanted to introduce myself and my Fords (past, present, and future). I love off roading and driving up to the mountains and I'm looking forward to hearing where everyone goes to get some fresh mud on their trucks!

Past:
1999 Expedition XLT. 2WD with the 5.4, Gibson ceramic header, Edge programmer, true-dual 2.5" cat-back with Magnaflow x-pipe and dual mufflers, GoRhino grill guard, and a few other odds and ends (looked like a cop truck).

Present:
2004 F-350 Lariat FX4. Currently has a Banks Ottomind Powerpack with the IQ, and a Bullet Proof Diesel oil cooler and EGR cooler, and a wish list that costs more than the truck!

Future:
My late father's 1985 F-250 Lariat Super cab, long bed 2WD. Carburated 460 and a stick shift (good friends with current owner who isn't planning on keeping the truck for too long).

I'll post pictures soon.

Thanks for the warm welcome! And thanks for reminding me Wpnaes, the trucks are named Betsy (Expy), Marilyn (F-350), and The Beast (F-250). I'll get some pictures up once I'm off of work. And I'm looking forward to meeting up with everyone some time. As far as location, I'm in north OC, in Cypress.

Welcome to the chapter. All look good, but I am partial to the style of the Beast. Even called my F250 that.

I agree, though I love my '04, nothing can compare to the look and feel of the older trucks. The have everything they need and nothing they don't. Plus wing windows are the bee's knees! My ultimate dream truck would be an old 70's crew cab, short bed with a modern diesel and running gear (with a stick shift of course).

Once I take possesion of the '85 I'm on the fence about keeping the 460 (love the sound of that thing!) or swapping in a newer diesel drivetrain w/ a manual (probably a newer 7.3L).

In 2 or 3 months, I will be picking up a 1970 F-100 with the solid as a rock 300 six and manual trans, flareside I believe Ford called it. It doesn't look like much now, but it will after I get my hands on it. Oh, and a 1989 F-250 4x4 that comes with a 28ft 5th wheel trailer. I will put an '86 front clip on that one though as I don't like the '87-92 style.

I agree with you on that one; the late 80's to early 90'2 Fords look like they're in that awkward junior high stage. The models before and after look good though! haha. And I envy your trucks... those old ones just have character that you don't find anymore. I can't describe it any other way than "character".

I can't wait to get that old '85 back into my driveway! I can borrow it whenever I need/want to. The truck is exactly how it was when my dad had it, minus the old camper it used to have (not too sad to see it go!). The truck even smells like it did when my dad had it. It definitely brings back a ton of memories. The wonderful sound of that 460 always brings back the memories of my dad popping the clutch a little to hard and me and my siblings in the back all banging our heads against the back window! Good times. 8-)

Welcome to the SoCal Chapter.

You may meet a fellow chapter member sooner than you think (especially on garage sale days), cuz if you happen to see a red 1954 F100 pickup in Cypress, it belongs to FTE member Jake08

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, said the old lady as she kissed the cow.

1980/86 is one style, 1987/91 is another, then there's 1992/96's.

When the 1980 F100/350's came out, some peeps thought they were homely, resembled the 1977 Courier with its stubby front end and slanted back headlights.

I waited until 1988 to buy a new truck, because I'm one a those peeps.
