Dismantling three of these. I think they are F6

I am dismantling three 1947 MA-2 aircraft tugs assembled by Consolidated Diesel and Electric. I just discovered that they have Ford engines and running gear that appear to be F6 setups but on very short frames. Unfortunately these will be going to the scrap yard very soon so please contact me immediately if you have interest in any of the parts.

Consolidated Diesel And Electric MA-2
engine: V8 Y block with casting # EAM 6015
These engines were set up to run on either automotive fuel or JP4 turbine fuel.
Starters, Generators and Regulators are 24 volt systems.
Four speed transmission. These tugs are governed to a maximum speed of 30 mph in 4th gear.
PTO: that ran two large generators
Front Axel: F24 HX2 with a gear ratio of 4.857
Rear Axel: have not got that far yet but happy provide information upon request.
Tire Size is 7.50 x 16

These are unusual setups but I hate to see them just get melted. Please contact me immediately if you are interested in these parts.
My e-mail is jethottoo@yahoo.com
Thanks

Some questions
You state that they are 1947 Models, then you Identify the engines as V8 Y Blocks
If made in 1947 they should be Fleathead engines - The Y blocks didn't appear until 1953/54
Do you have any pictures of the vehicles, especially the engines, trans, differentials and the wheels
Where in NV are you - There is a lot of lost space out there.

Oh and welcome to FTE

Correction

Correction, these are manufactured in 1956 and 1957. I sent some pictures to truckdog62563 and hope he will be able to post them. I'm in Reno, Nevada which is in the north part of the state near Lake Tahoe.

Here's the pics Mat sent me. I've also asked that he send pics of the wheels and the inner front axle where it meets the hub and wheels. I emailed Chuck too to ask him whether he sees any M-H connection on the front axle. It's clearly a Timken like used on F-2/3 M-Hs, but somehow doesn't look the same to me on quick look. I looked at it wrong at first, it's offset to the left like was done on the two speed R32-4s. Stu

welcome aircraftsman and thanks for posting the pics Stu. You had me worried there for a minute because it looked like left side pumpkin to me. i would agree that something just doesnt look the same as the mh stuff. maybe its the shape of the diff? the steering stabalizer looks right though. I'm kinda digging those wheels Matt, can you see if you can find a number so i can see if its what i would be interested in? should be stamped on the inside of the wheel across from the valve stem. And are the fronts the same as the rears? they look different in the pics.

Yeah, I was looking at the third pic as though it was from the front, but it's from the rear. When checking the wheels, please also check the bolt circle. We'd need to know whether it's 5 lug x 8" like a civilian vehicle, or the military spec 5 x 6 7/8" pattern. We've seen other M-H airport trucks that had the military spec wheels. Stu

Mark - this is your 47210. In these pictures they don't look much alike. Hopefully Mat can get some close up pics. Stu

One other thing, Mat, could you do a quick measurement of the front track width? There are a lot of signs that say the axle is similar to our M-H trucks, but it looks narrower. Thanks. Stu

lets muddy the water some more. if these are 56-57, why would they have MH five lug front axles. MH would have ran out of those in 53 and switched to the 6 lug by the time these tugs were made? Matt, what the rear bolt pattern? how many lug? 5-6 or 8?

Mark - Remember the M-H crash truck you chased? It had 5 lug too, but it was the military 6 7/8" pattern. Also, it had a Dana 60 front axle IIRC. Stu

Is it just me, or are the letters 'M' and 'H' cast into the gas pedal... kinda overlaying each other?

Information Update

Sorry about the delay, I had a challenge getting these pictures from my phone to the computer. I've sent them to Stu so he can post them.
I did the best that I could to get where the axle meets the hub. I can get better ones later today if you need them. I got a picture of the tag on the Front axle and made a close up copy so they can maybe be identified a little better. The wheels are 5 Lug and appear to be a 7 1/2" pattern. The lugs measure 4 5/8" stud to stud. I don't know what points of measure to get the axle width, but the rear measures 53 1/2" at the center of the tires. The inside rims are stamped with # 47210.
Thank you for your input and interest.

Here's most of the pics. I know Mark will have interest in the wheels, and pretty sure I'll talk with you about the front axles. Also Mark commented about the rams horn exhaust headers being worth having. Stu
