Hey John (?),
That was very helpful - I'm about to get mine back on the road.
I've got a Texas title that's only good for parades & I'd liek to get
a true no restrictions license. Your link clearly outlines the process to
follow.
I owe you one! Doesn't it seem strange that a Canadian is
helping a Texan figure out his own state's title process - It's an odd world.
Thx

you should only have to change plate style from antique to classic or normal
(both classic and normal require annual inspection)
my green truck has custom/personalized numbered classic plates.
We just did the title only on a 30 ford sedan, via a purchased title.
we have some year of manufacture plates to put on next year (maybe)
when we get it road worthy.

Hey Sam,
Sorry about the multiple postings above - I obviously had some technical problems.
I've got the normal Texas "Blue" title for our 1950 F1 but it shows
"Vin certification waived" in the remarks column. The processor
said that I could only get a Parade type license with this restriction
on there. She said I would need to go get the Vin # certified at some
place that does this & then come back for a "full" license.
My "Vin #" is a bizarre one - I have a tag on the door jam with this number "KS107200". No other VIN's on the vehicle - firewall & front
axle have been replaced. Thought I'd head into the process once I get the truck back up & running - next week hopefully.

Yea I know - Made me a little nervous - but I can always go the
"bonded" license route. I'll tackle it in November - do you have the normal
Texas plate with the sticker that goes in the window? I've got a physical plate but no registration sticker at this point.

I reviewed the Pennsylvania section - There is some incorrect/misleading information.
The suggestion to register the vehicle as a Collectible will put severe restrictions on how/where it can be operated
The info about a title being Scrapped and the vehicle is unusable - You can apply for a "Remanufacured Vehicle" Title
SEMA has a complete list of regulations on their site that was verified by the states.

It's hard enough at times to get a title, I like to start out with the latest and greatest from the state and not risk the vehicle/intent/hassle

Hey Kelly,
Where did you get the YOM plates from? Supposedly I'm restricted to just parades - my title says "vin certification waived". I'm waiting on a transmission to get mine back on the road - the first one they sent was DOA. I'll try the classic car route - is there anything else special that I have to have?

Hi Ben,
I found mine on Ebay, I looked for a long time, till I found a set with the right price and condition. I am also a pretty good painter, so I can refurbish them later if I want.
I don't remember doing anything special. I went over to the Tax office, told the lady I wanted to use these YOM plates and get the title transferred. Paid some money and was out of there in 30 min.
