I also am new to this forum and also new to old ford trucks. I like your project. I see disc brakes on an old axel. Newer distributor. 3 2's intake? power steering pump. Seems like a lot of old and a lot of new. Tell us more about it.

Cool looking build mbrowne. I've got a 58 CustomStyleside. Mine is pretty hot rodded. It was just a big collection of missing/broken/rusty/and otherwise damaged stuff when I bought it--some ten years ago. I'm pretty much finished--if that ever happens and just drive it now and then for fun. Hope it holds together. I'm retired and such can't spend and do what I did when I was younger, but I try to keep the stuff I've built as long a possible before they put me in the "home" haha. I'll be interested in your future plans. I may know a couple helpful things--not much, but I do remember locating a hard to find 4 headlight relay at NAPA that is inexpensive and still available. I had a hard time finding such a beast when I built mine. So don't hesitate to speak up if you can't find something. As a fridge owner you of course know that we don't have the most popular older Ford trucks and there's not so much aftermarket help and support--but some products now and then.

Thanks, Slow build too many projects also doing a 50 ford 8N tractor and a motorcycle or two. I'm a Ford truck man and have seen way too many 48-56 ford builds. This is a 58 SB big window, but will be using a 57 grill. I did a 3" drop axle with a disk kit from CCP. The rest of the chassis will be stock. Will use ford power assist steering. The motor is a 68 FE 390 mild cam Tri Power and coated shorty headers.

 

Ya we've talked before. I know you're a bike guy and all. Didn't recall you were building a tractor too. I thought maybe your truck would be finished by now, and in a car show somewhere. I can see you do really good work.

 

Hey Browne, I really like the attch. point you have for lifting the engine. Really great idea!

The rest of the work looks great as well. My '60 is as original as practical but I appreciate shiny new stuff from time to time.

 

Looks like your running a tublar crossmember for the engine, did you notch the front of frame to avoid axle and member slapping? Oh and what size tire are you running in the front???

 

I used a tubular motor mount kit but did not like the way it fit the motor or how low the motor sat in the frame. I moved it up a little and made it clear the axle. The Front tires are P205-75-15 they're to small will change to a
P215-75-15 and P275-60-15 for the rear.

 

My engine cross member is hitting my axle, I'm gonna have to cut the hump then rotate to clear the axle and re-weld it.........I didn't realize it until I had all my mounts and front end done.
