So here we are 3 years later.....

In truckworld......Ford has stepped up the game. So let's rate the big 5. Meaning in no specific order GMC, Ford, Dodge, Nissan, and Toyota.

1. Ford
2. Dodge - very close second...if it wasn't for the 5.0 or Ecoboost....
3.Toyota
4.Nissan
5.GMC

Disclaimer: Yes, I do know this is a predomitely Ford site but complete honesty without ridicule would be nice....

Keep in mind, this IMHO.

I do not think that GM deserves to be on the bottom as far as trucks go. Now if it were business practices, well they would be about as low as you can go.

The tundra is a rolling pile.

The weakest frame and it flex's like mad. What I don't get about the Tundra is that it has a good motor, tranny, rear-end, but the frame? To me they missed the whole 1/2 market, and made a quasi 3/4 ton with a cheap frame.

Guys I worked with bought one thinking yeah. Most of them had a Ford again withing 2 months. Or what ever brand they originally had. Even a guy I knew who was insane about toyota got rid of his as soon as he could. He wanted a fullsize like his friends, and was pissed it only got 10mpg. Not the almost 20 it was rated at.

Also I rather have a GM then a Dodge.

As for Ford I'd have to see how easy it is to cut the frame to give it a proper drop.

Id rank it;
1) Ford
2) Dodge (also very close because they offer a real manual trans behind the diesel)
3) GMC I like the inside better than the fords
4)Toyota
5)Nissan (it's a pile)

The father in law bought a 2010 Ram Laramie and it's a solid truck. Right up there with the F-150 before the 5.0L and Ecoboost came out. I have driven 2 F-150 Ecoboost's and very impressive.

As for the GMC being up there....I haven't followed what GM has done with their trucks in the past 5 or so years in the way of drivetrain or underpinnings but to me, they look the same prior to the collapse.....

Some improvements to HD line with frame and drivetrain but same lame emmsions garbage as the rest and the tie-rods are still to small. The 1/2 ton line with the exception of a boxed frame really hasn't changed.

The public has spoken with their wallets, regardless of opinions here.
Sales ranking in the US.
1-Ford
2-Chevy
3-Dodge (now called Ram by Fiatsler)
4-Toyota
5-GMC
6-Nissan

If you combine Chevy and GMC sales, sometimes they beat Ford, sometimes not.
