78 f250 steering box rebuild

So looking for a steering box rebuild. Pretty sure i busted the gear inside the box because i have over a turn of free play then the box locks and gets hard and wont turn.

I was driving last night on a logging road, doing maybe 40 and went for a slight right, started turning, NOTHING!!! oh crap, stepped on the brakes, turning, went into the ditch, ate a couple trees and stopped. ok grabbed 4wd and backed up and got it to turn a small amount to drive out. then made a 100 point turn and got it off the road and called a tow truck.

wheel turns almost 2 turns before it STARTS to turn but then locks up and get hard.

So im in need of a full rebuild kit for the steering box.

X2, sounds like the box is trashed. Salvage yards or parts store are possibilities but my first choice would be Redhead Steering Gear in Seattle, WA.

when we hit the ditch we were full lock right turn. and i locked in hubs and was able to drive up and out but then couldnt turn afterwards. i went back and looked at the ditch, and we slid a ways and then a tree stopped us. could have been way worse!

junkyards around and filled with 2wd, time to start shopping around i guess.

Try not to be tempted by the less expensive "rebuilds" at the parts stores, do it once, do it right, get a Red-head gear box.
