I was towing my 22' camper for the first time with my 2003 6.OL Powerstroke. While 200 miles from home, I lost power and the check engine light came on. I dropped the truck at the nearest Ford Dealer and rented a car.
The dealer called today and said they replaced the turbo, ICP and the installed the newest program. When questioned about fuel in oil and injector replacement, he had no answer.
My question is this; have there been turbo failures without injector failures? Should I be pushy about replacing the injectors?
I had a friend that burned through two turbo's before they realized that there was fuel leaking by injectors. I hope to get this problem resolved the first time! Having a new truck break-down towing a trailer in the middle of now-where is not a pleasant experience!
There have been turbo failures with out injector failures or with out fuel in the oil. It is likely that your engine has the latest injectors in it and if they're not leaking fuel into the oil, you have nothing to gain by replacing them. In fact, if it can't be demonstrated that there is something wrong with your injectors, you probably couldn't get Ford to replace them at all unless you are willing to foot the cost.
If your truck is running all right now, they have probably got it fixed.
