I would not get a diesel if you ride that much its not good on them to sit. I ride year round down here and my SD spends the week days in the driveway.

I agree with Pili. You said your stuck on the diesel, so IMO you'll have issues with the truck no matter which engine you pick, from your description of your usage. Whether its truck (engine) problems or trying to off road a heavy diesel rig. If I were buying a diesel or any truck for that matter, I'd buy the newest truck I could afford. Good luck with your decision.

Diesels were good up to mid 2003 when the 6.0 was introduced. V10's were good from 2002 to current. If you attempt your luck on a 6.0, try 06-07. Lots of problems up to and including 05's. All have lots of emissions crap after mid 03.

According to the OP

infrequent usage
Minimal towing
Wants a 08-10
Isnt concerned with mpg (low annual mileage)
Price is important

Sounds like a 5.4 or 6.8 gas would fit the bill better and cheaper than a diesel for this guy.

It would probably be driven on a weekly basis, just not every day all day, maybe like 4ish days a week.

I'm not wanting to spend much more than $30k.
