Have been pulling campers for years and not seen this happen before. Turn and brake lights fine and they are seperate circuits from tail/running lights. Tail/running lights turn on fine and after a few minutes will go dim then out completely. After a few minutes they will come back on. This repeats itself. This started on return trip from camping a couple of weeks ago. Everything was fine on the trip down. Keep in mind this is the first trip with this vehicle. Could it possibly be the headlight switch overheating with it being 35 years old. Everything else appears to be good. Would hook up camper to another vehicle but the other cars are not wired for it. On the 250 mile trip down I did not use headlight but I did on the return trip.

Check the dimmer switch on the floor. This happened to me years ago.
