been awhile

Hey
been a long time sense i logged in, been looking to sell my 82 F100 then buy an extended cab 4x4, as i can't find time to work on my 4x2 to 4x4 conversion and i need the ex-cab for the grand-kids, then today when i went to look at a 95 (that i found had been jerry rigged to death) i ran into another old Ford nut and i will be trading my 82 and the donor 80 F150 for a running driving 1985 F250 ex cab 4X4 long wheel base manual 4 speed "460" XL ..........i am in heaven needs tires and has some rust but hey it's a mostly work truck. I do need to find a front seat the one it has is red and looks good, but i think its from a van as it don't fold down right to get to the back seat. sorry to ramble but I am happy just need to find a seat already posted in the 80-86 section just thought i might get some AR help

Sounds like it will be some fun, especially if the 460 is in shape. Good luck with the seat.

Well made it home with the 460 its an 84 not 85 runs good 4x4 works, gona need some tlc power windows, fuel gauge, speedometer, odometer and oil pressure gauge don't work, does ride good for a 3/4 ton 4X4 that LONG wheelbase helps, but the power locks work and with no fuel gauge I don't have to find out right away how fast the needle falls lol

Congradulations on getting the new truck home. I've got a buddy that drives a '92 460 powered F250. I think he has to use both tanks to get from Ft Smith to Little Rock. His is just a regular cab, so it's harsh when there isn't anything in the bed/on the hitch.

com on guys your telling me that this 460 won't get 18-20 miles to the gallon.... I am in shock lol ....sure does sound good and ride nice....maybe I could run it on moonshine, wonder what it would cost to make per gallon, to be honest if it gets 8-10 mpg I am ok with that, and if I get everything working maybe the wife will drive it in bad weather and leave the nice shiny power stroke at home

Sure it will, as long as a 6.0L is carring it down the highway. Yeah, I went there...it's clear most everyone in this chapter is a 7.3L fan. I wouldn't say the 460 is the worse on gas mileage out there...that's either the V10 or the 351C. Both like the gas as fast as you can feed it to 'em. I shouldn't pick on the 460 so much, it was what came to pick up the Princess on Labor Day weekend when she cracked that injector.

My father-in-law had a '94 F150 with the 300 & a 5-speed. I was impressed with the power that truck had when it came to pulling his 27' travel trailer. It wasn't going to set the land speed record, but it would get it there without much fuss. He traded it for an Edge (no clue on the vintage/trim package) but he's complained for some time about terrible fuel mileage. I keep tell him to "back off the throttle driver" (he's a retired OTR trucker) just to get his goat a little. As far as the Tat...I think you should get one that covers your entire chest. A big blue oval will drive the women wild when you go swimming.

Guess that means this Ford PSD logo is out of the question too?

Can't go wrong with Captain's chairs. That's one of the things I think makes my truck so comfortable to ride in for many miles.
