did i just screw up?

I changed my oil this weekend, and for some idiotic reason i bought Rotella semi syn 10w-30 instead of 40.. Am I ok, or do I have to spent another $80 for the correct oil.
I'm also going to be towing my 5r in a few weeks if that makes any difference.

Thanks

I do not think that will hurt a thing.
You can thin it out with a couple beers and you will be good to go....In you of course!

I think you'll be ok, especially since it is cooling down all over teh country this time of year. In all honesty it probably wouldn't matter, but I am a perfectionist and it would drive me nuts after a while so I would probably change it out at 3k though in your climate, then just throw the 40 in there and keep rolling.

I ran T5 Rotella 10W-30 in my wife's truck for 5k miles and then had the oil sampled. No difference noted between normal Rotella T 15w-40. The shear value was still around 12.5 IIRC...

You will be fine. Happy towing!

I wish I was Costa, but I'm heading to NC for a few months....you know last winter I was in Texas, and it was colder than normal, then I came back for the summer and there was record heat... I bet NC will have record snowfall while I'm there. Thats my luck...

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I'll run it for 5k and go back to full syn. I did save $20 over the T6...

Why are you spending all that money on syn blend to only run it 5k miles? I've yet to see any substantial sheer breakdown untill well over 10k! You really outta start a sampling routine it will save you a lot of money!

Jim I usually run the T6 full syn @ 8k mile intervals. I was going to bump it up to 10k with a filter change at 5K.
I need to do that next oil change & send a sample to Blackstone & see what they recommend. I just thought I would save a few bucks and try the T5.

It's good to see that Montey is focusing on other things apposed to food.
I appreciate his concern, I just wish my fat lil Russell Porky would focus on other things....
