Help, new 1966 F100 owner

Finally was able to purchase a 1966 F100!
Questions:
This appears to be the grille and upper valance from possibly a 64, or is this actually correct? I thought that it should have the 4 slot upper valance with "FORD" and the nicer 2 slot on top and checkered on bottom grille? This grille is in very good shape, its just not appealing to me, but before i change it I want to be sure its not what was original.

Also any other info would be appreciated, really excited for the build with alot work ahead of me.

Thanks for all the help and info that is throughout this forum been reading here for years.

First, Welcome to FTE! yep, the grill/upper valance is a 64 piece, depending on where you live in AZ i can help with parts to make it back to original if your intrested.

Good Buy... looks like a nice project to start with, what are your plans?

AZ, Welcome to FTE

Does your truck have a single front axle? I can't tell in the photo.

No solid front axle, it does have I-beams. Only thing that threw me off was the '64 grille.

I purchased the truck for my Dad and I to restore/restomod with my son. Last year we were forced to sell our '62 falcon (heartbreaking for us both) so it was a gift for him. Still going over the options but looking in the direction of restomod. I would like to put a 460 and C6 if the money is right along with disk brakes and power steering from a '70s truck. First thing though would be to get the right grille in there as this thing is bothering me haha! Than start on the body work and get the body in shape for some paint and getting correct emblems and what not. And find an original instrument cluster as the previous owner did a custom one and as its nice I would still like to be close to original on appearance.
Was looking for a short bed styleside but couldn't find one, now though, the flareside is growing on us. Definitively happy with the purchase and glad I went with the '66 over the unibody I was going to get, we did a complete front suspension swap on the falcon to mustang II and wasn't looking forward to doing that again.

yeah, the MII front ends are really not made for the weight of a truck. the twin Ibeam rides just fine in my opinion. I'm in North Tucson... if your close you can stop by and check out the 66 grill and valance i have.

We put the mII on the falcon, I was referring to having to do something along those lines to be able to change from the Yblock engine family.
I'm in goodyear but wouldn't mind a drive down to see my Aunt in Tucson if you have what I'm looking for and the price was right. All I have found so far is the grille from dennis-carpenter.com
Any experience with parts from them?

Dennis Carpenter is good.... costly but good. there rubber parts are better than other places because they have original molds to produce them.

Welcome to FTE!

That looks like the one from Apache Junction?

I most likely have what you need in parts... Cave Creek area.

The grille is from a 1964 Custom Cab. Since there are no holes in the upper grille panel for the F O R D letters, it's from a 1961 or more than likely, from a 1962/64 with the holes filled in.

The hood and fender emblems have been removed, their holes have been filled in.

Back to original: You will need a 1966 painted steel Standard Cab grille, 1965/66 upper grille panel and parking lamps, hood emblem (*), 1966 F100 "Twin-I-Beam" fender emblems.

The chrome wheels, baby moon hubcaps are aftermarket as are the outside mirrors.

750054:

75 = Phoenix AZ Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

0054: Domestic Special Order number; The truck was ordered special by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."

* When there is no COLOR code, the vehicle is painted a non standard color specified by original purchaser.

When this occurres, the vehicle is a Domestic Special Order.

* 1961/64 all, 1965/66 I-6's used the same hood emblem, has the Gear and Lightning Bolt design.

The hood emblem used on 1965/66's w/a V8 .. has a V8 emblem.

btw: Your truck is a Flareside .. not a Styleside. A Styleside (FoMoCo terminology) has quarter panels (bedsides), does not have rear fenders.

The elephantine behemouth in my sig pic is the latest example of a Styleside. If you want to see what a Fleetside looks like, you don't have to look too far, because...

A Fleetside is a (gasp) Chevrolet.

I mixed up the flareside/fleetside bedsides, that's what I get for laughing at the other posts where the guy was made fun of for it.

Yes this was the truck from AJ, I'm still bummed I missed the brown one from Glendale a month or so ago it looked cherry for that price! Hopefully someone here picked it up! This one needs allot more but has potential.

Thanks for all the info this place truly is awesome and a great community!
And thank you to Bill W, I will hopefully be making a drive this weekend to see you!

Ya I know.....chevy..... trust me I hate that damn truck. When my 2005 F150 was stolen I was forced to drive my wife's old truck as she got the new SUV. Trust me that thing doesn't pull anywhere near as well as my old 3v 5.4 did or even my '92!
