53 F-350 grounding
Hi all,
I just got a 53 f350, two farms old, and have a question about grounding.
The truck is 6 volt, v-8 flahead, four speed. The battery is negative grounded. It runs and guages seems to work correctly except temp which shows hot all the time.
Is this correct? What would happen if I made it positive ground as the shop manual shows?
Thanks
PS. I even got the self destructing wire insulation as a bonus!.

Welcome to the forum.
As the shop manual shows, the 6V electrical system should be positive ground. It can be switched back and the generator polarized to work positive ground. Many times these old six volt system vehicles were hooked up neg ground by mistake. To run correctly, the coil should be hooked to match polarity and when these were hooked neg ground in error the coil wiring was not touched. If it were mine, I would hook it correctly if you are going to keep it 6volts.
