I have the wheel off to replace the turn signal cam on my 88 E350 but the POS replacement won't work. I'd like to replace all the upper signal workings with a salvage piece..how does it all come out ?? I took the 2 screws out and can semi dislodge it but its hanging up.
thanks
From memory there are 3 screws holding the turn signal plate. Once they are removed and the stalk unscrewed, there is just enough length in the wiring pigtail to lift the plate up over the steering shaft.
If I'm understanding you correctly, you are removing the part with a wire bundle attatched to it. If so, you'll needed to remove the plug at the end of the bundle to get it out of the column. If not, disregard this response.

He's replacing the turn signal cam which screws onto the rest of the turn signal switch. I can't remember if you have to unbolt the switch to get it on... I think you do. But you don't need to remove the whole thing I think.
the signal cam was the initial repair but the POS replacement doesn't work so I figured I'd pull the whole mess and replace it with a working salvaged piece.

I think you will find the connector can't pass through the metal ring on the column. I think you are supposed to remove the pins from the connector to pass the wire through, but I just used a cutter to cut a slot in the ring.
