Looking to get a new welder?

I am in the market to buy a new tig welder and plasma cutter hopefully all in one unit so that I can do some mods to my bike and go kart.....I have spoken to some of the bigger companies like lincoln, miller, harbor freight and they are a little to expensive for me at the time so I was wondering if anyone had any advice on where to look for some affordable but reliable welding companies

Get a used Miller Dynasty 200DX. I have an older one, and it's a great machine. Very stable TIG arc and enough power to weld thick stuff with stick.
Eastwood has their own brand of MIG welders now, they seem to be decent units for a good price.
I like Hypertherm plasma cutters, I have used them for years and have never had a problem.
If you buy cheap equipment that's just what you will be stuck with.

Check out craigslist. You can pick up a good quality welder/plasma cutter at a good price if you are patient.

Eastwood is selling both their 200 amp TIG and their plasma cutter in a kit for $999.

I think I just found my Christmas gift!

Go to real welding forums for more detailed welding advice. Weldingweb and the Millerwelds are the most informative.

I send folks from there to these forums for Ford advice because this is the place for that, and those are as good as fordtrucks regarding welding.

Also, you can't go wrong with what Ford_Six said!
