Ok, I have a carrier bearing drop kit coming from Summitt Racing ($50) and am going to tackle this problem this weekend.

I have been spraying the hell out of the two bolts that hold the CB with PB Blaster. I noticed last night that there are no nuts involved. It has those clips that it goes into. Any problem with me just putting the impact on it and giving it hell? If I snap the bolt, cant I just pry off the clip, put new clips in and go from there?

Better yet, I should be able to add nuts and bypass those clips altogether..

Am I on the right track?

As always, THANKS!

Sounds like you are on the right track. You should be able to use a nut if you ruin a clip.
(I wouldn't TRY and ruin one though..)

I prefer to use Grade 8 1/2-13 or 1/2-20 bolts, with washers and Ny-Locks on top, instead of the factory 'blind' nuts. I love quality hardware, and I have seen more than one of the factory nuts with compromised threads.

Am I correct that your truck is a gasser? Looks in the pic like it may have V-10badges?
