Hi. I'm new to the forums but I'm not new to fords I have three of them and I guess I should start off with my first question bout my old truck. I have a 1977.5 f250 crewcab 4x4. With a 4sp. I'm looking to do a restoration but modernization project on. And I figured this would help me out.
First question.
Can no air filter destroy HP/fuel mileage? Compared to having one
Yeah I know that I accidently flattened my old airfilter and it doesn't seem like it has as much power as it did before.Idk I've got a 4bbl Carb holley 4160 650 cfm. Is that too small for sucuh a motor
I've had a few motors on the dyno and they didn't use any air filter so it must not matter that much. 650 CFM is just fine, the factory 2v was like 360CFM or so.
See I had heard that wasv 180hp at the wheels and yes its a 400 butbthat truck hauls amazing for what it is. It will keep up with my dads 68 firebird with the 428 hi. Perf. 390hp engine till we hit 100. And this is a 7k lb truck vs a 3300lb car.
