thanks for all the support and info-i had the hardest time committing to this swap because i bleed ford blue thru and thru. but this is not a "dodge" motor, this is the awesome MECHANICALLY!! injected cummins. so, last night Bulla and another friend came over and in about four hoursd we pulled the old idi and cleaned up some of the wiring. i am expecting the 12v upgrades to come in tomorrow or sat. and will hopefully complete them next week. the goal- to have a 400hp,manually shifted, freshly painted cummins swap complete by thanksgiving. that would be something to be thankful for!

IMO, this is ideal. Nice!

Im glad you were able to make a decision, it can definately be hard i know. I personally am on the anti-chummins bandwagon. But it is a popular swap and most people are happy with it. As far as cummins over IH stock... hardly. Ive driven a 90 cummins, a 96, and a 00, 01and 04. All were considerably underpowered compared to thier ford, and even chevy rival. Most of the dodges were our work trucks at les schwab. I can personally tell you that in stock form a IDI will beat a VE5.9, the psd will take the P-pumped 12v, and the 6.0 will eat the 24v and commonrail alive. And the 6.7 scorpion vs. the 6.7 cummins? dont make me laugh.

As far as power potential, yes, a p-pump will out perform a 7.3 (idi or psd) almost any day.

got it in-i have spent gobs of time under the hood(so i haven't been posting) it finally fits after lots of mods-here is a quick run down: 97 12v cummins w/all new seals, new exhaust manifold, some powdercoating thanks to bulla, added a 93 dodge intercooler w/custom piping, 100 hp injectors, gsk, self advanced timing, custom radiator piping, trans/boost/pyro gauges. IT RUNS AWESOME!!!!! i can actually pass traffic! left to install-a/c lines, fuel mods
