Thought I'd share my success with overcoming my 2003 F350 PSD 6.0l's recent issues. I was towing about 6000 lbs and she would start to bog down and lose power and spew tons of black smoke when I started climbing hills at around 50-55 mph. I wasn't getting a CEL just the above symptoms. I pulled the DTCs and got these: P1000, P0102, P0404, P0405 & P2263. I cruised the forum for a few hours and decided to try the MAF sensor spray first. I had no luck with the spray so I diconnected the MAF sensor and went for a test drive. She drove much better with the MAF disconnected so I called around for a replacement. Ford wanted $220 and the local parts place wanted $110 for a remanufactured one. I went with the reman. I plugged it in and fired her up. I checked the codes and they were all gone. Time will tell if the reman will be good enough...but for nearly half the cost, I'm willing to try it. I'll update this thread if the MAF fails again.
I figure the P0102 caused all the other codes except the P1000. I have no idea why that one cleared.
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to help us not so mechanically inclined folks out!
