Well after sitting on my fabric from SMS for almost two years I finally took it to a local guy to remake my seat. Needed everything from new foam to burlap to the fabric. It was noticed that the fabric wasn't exactly perfectly straight if the pattern and my guy is a perfectionist like me. Then as he went over the old seat he saw that FORD wasn't a perfectionist so I told him not to sweat it too much. Nonetheless, he did pretty good with the stuff considering that the fabric didn't have a lot of natural stretch to it. So I went for the stock look complete with embossing.
One thing that stands out is that after I got the seat placed back in the truck, and sat in it, something NumberDummy once said came to mind. I sit at least 2 inches higher now than with the old seat and old foam. Now I know why his comment about a windshield with the dark band across the top. Seat is quite firm with 40 year foam used in the bottom.

My guy did not do such a good job on the bottom seat sides and it is somewhat wrinkled. Yours looks super! . Tell me about the armrests, also. Do they mash in the plastic insert? Are they installed reversed?
I ask since I haven't installed mine cuz I haven't had the heart to punch holes in my new door insert yet and I wonder whether when I screw the armrests up tight, they may mash in the insert as I have suggested.
Lastly, what is 40 year foam? 40 years old or guaranteed 40 years, or what?

I was wondering the same thing about the arm rests they look to be reversed. There should be a 1/8th-1/4er piece of wood behind the insert and the door panel to keep the rest from crushing the insert. It is c shaped. I can take pics of a redo on mine if you would like to see it.

Means that this foam will definitely last 40 years and not disintegrate in less than 40 years like the original foam which was all over the cab floor.
Interesting about the rests being backwards as they were replaced in exactly the same position as the old ones were in. They did not mash the insert because there is a small rectangular piece of wood between the insert and the metal door. Luckily mine were still present as the arm rests were still present.
Afterwards I had more than enough material left for making a new cover for the side pockets giving me one set of white and now one set of the green.
Harley...I have lots of the original wood spacers if you wish...they were originally held in place by masking tape.
The seat looks sweet...SMS is THE source for the correct stuff...cant go wrong IMO...Did you have the seat backrest part of the frame powder coated ??? The reason I ask is the hinge will leave black wear marks on the vinyl over time and will rust and make more marks...in the end...look bad...I also see that you have a floormat thats survived as it has full sides vs the repops that do not.
The RH door armrest is really a LH armrest...the fatter, wider end goes to the rear of the door...
very nice job...if it cost you 100 or 1000...can you beat that new car feel and firmness and smell ??? I say no :-)
tbm3fan, Here is a page out of the original sales brochure showing the interior. That does not mean it is right, just that your armrests are installed reversed from that illustration.
My original armrests were off and the inserts were missing, so I had no idea how they were installed.
Sweet! Where did you get the pattern for the stitching?
The pattern? The original fabric was still on the seat frame with one large hole where the driver sits his rear. The vinyl and plastic fabrics from SMS. Embossing by SMS. Upholsterer simply copied the original layout.
