Cool 97 E150 Problems PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a 97 E150 I have two problems with it! The biggest problem is it loses water (cant see where at) there are no puddles but very wet at tail pipe and then it will run hot it will take about 2 gallons to fill it back up again. Any Ideas??? Also when you go about 35 and 45 it has a loud noise and if you hit the gas it will smooth out Any Ideas on that one too?!?!?! Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Either a head gasket or an intake manifold gasket. Worse case something is cracked. If you keep running it like this something WILL be cracked.

If it's a head gasket usually there will be water in the oil, but not always. If it is an intake manifold gasket there won't be water in the oil. There's no oil in the intake manifold.

I had similar rumble but it went away when I replaced driver side axle, brakes and tires in one big $$ servicing.

The mechanic found the pass side axle seal leaking and wanted to replace both sides to be safe, when he pulled the drivers side axle, that bearing and axle was chewed up but the seal was still good!

I agree with the head gasket leaking but if you have rear heat check the valve near the frame under the drivers seat, mine was leaking for a bit causing slow fluid leak.

Thank you for your response. I have rear heat but it doesn't blow hot it blows cold. Thats another problem I have but not a huge thing. The air conditioner only blows out the defrost place. It won't blow out the vents same with heat. And when it the cold blows out he rear vents its not very strong! If its not one thing its 50 others!

When it only blows out of the defrost that usually means a vacuum leak. No heat to the rear often means low coolant. If there is no hot water getting to the rear it isn't going to blow hot.

How does your oil look? How does the coolant look when you fill it up? Another common problem for coolant loss (at least on the 5.4s, maybe 4.6) is that the oil cooler develops a leak and you will lose coolant, oil may look nasty. There will be oil sludge in the coolant reservoir. The cooler mounts between the block and oil filter and has two coolant hoses running to it. About $200, easy to change.

The noise sounds like it may be the rear differential. Rear Pinion depth or backlash problem from worn parts. It really depends on the noise and severity; hard to diagnose over the internets.
