ok guys, need a little help! 2004 with a 6.0

Truck had a ficm going out... was cranking till batteries died... also saw smoke coming from engine... seemed electrical? gave up and broke down and bought new ficm from ford(yikes)! also had batteries re charged(also both brand new)!

after installing new ficm bolted batteries back in, went to turn over and all i hear is a click... doesnt even want to crank now!

I have beed doing research on possible problems... here is what I have come up with
:fried ignition starter switch?
:fried starter?
:fried glow plug module?

any and all advice as to where to go from here would greatly help, thanks guys

 

Pull the starter and have it tested. Sounds like you smoked it to me. There is a blue/yellow stripe wire on the passenger side fender well that you can energize to manually engage the starter without the key switch IIRC.
