Alliant Power Oil Cooler?

I have been running high oil temps so I have been looking at options for the oil cooler. I talked with a few local guys that have worked with many 6.0's. One will not install the factory cooler due to high failure rate. He suggests the Bullet proof oil system. The other gent said that he uses the Alliant oil cooler (which I think is an upgraded oem)???. I have attempted several googles and havent found much info on the Alliant cooler.. Anyone heard of them??

2003-2009 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke - Alliant Power Oil Cooler. PN: AP63451

I have a 2005 F250 117,000 miles coolant filter installed and fass HD fuel system, no prior warranty work per Oasis. Runs great just started monitoring EOT and ECT and noticed the spread of around 20f.. I got a steal on the truck knowing this day would come.. Just considering my options. $3500 for Bullet proof oil system and bullet proof egr cooler this includes labor.. or $2000 for Alliant cooler and Bullet proof EGR cooler and labor.

I found their site and poked around a bit. It looks like they just resell OEM parts.

That's nothing but a repackaged OEM oil cooler kit. You can get the same thing from Tousley ford for $213 plus shipping. There's nothing special about the alliant cooler. Actually the new oil coolers ARE upgraded parts.

Failure rates MOSTLY come down to proper system maintenance. There will, of course, be a certain percentage of parts that fail on their own as with anything man made.

The Bulletproof system is a great system. I run one myself and am completely satisfied with it. No more worries about ECT/EOT temp spreads, HUGE filter, and great customer service from BPD. Since you're in Az anyway you should look up BPD and go visit their shop. They do a LOT of R&D on 6.0 stuff and they also do installs.

I can't help you with info on the Alliant oil cooler, I've not seen any info and don't recall anyone posting anything about them. But I did install the full Bullet Proof system in my truck about 8 months ago. I did the install myself and I'm not a mechanic. I love not having to worry about the oil cooler clogging any more and I plan on driving this truck until the cows come home, so the investment was a no brainer for me.

Quality product, well engineered and tested. My oil temps are no longer a major concern nor is clogging the cooler. With this cooler weather my coolant usually runs between 190 & 195 and oil temp between 170 - 195. These are unloaded temps running highway speeds and around town.

$3500 for the Bulletproof oil cooler. $213 for the stock oil cooler.

Even if you figure additional money for labor and push the cost of the stock oil cooler to $500, that's 7 stock oil coolers for the price of one Bulletproof one.

I know there is a peace of mind factor, but given you're seeing a 20 degree delta after more than 100k miles, you can go another 700k on stock oil coolers before you'll break even, money wise.

Not exactly a fair comparison... Including the cost of the BPD EGR & oil coolers, and required gaskets (including intake, oil cooler, and various others) + labor against the cost of an OEM oil cooler.

I would love to just pay $500 dollars and be done with it... But a cooler is 200+ and I want to do something with the EGR cooler.. Bulletproof or delete it($350).. I do not have the confidence to do the work myself and labor is a min of $1000 for both coolers. The previous owner said the system was flushed at 105,000 but he had no proof. Should I do a few flushes or will this be a pointless step? I appreciate everyones help!!

In my little brain - I just like to KNOW (as best I can ) about my work truck. It puts food on the table and my kids through school. A flush may help, but it won't be a permanent fix. There are several great threads on how to do effective flushes. Sometimes they help, sometimes they make it worse.

However, you would know you will have good temps with an oil & EGR cooler replacement. If you're just using it for recreational pulling, then a flush may be an option. But even getting stranded with family on the road is not something you would enjoy much.

The question of Bullet Proof vs. OEM is solved in my mind. I took the plunge, my time is worth a lot to me. Time with family, time working, etc and I only wanted to do that replacement one time. True OEM is cheaper, true you can buy more OEMs for one BPD. By the time you figure labor - it's a 2 to 1 margin. You can do two OEM coolers for one BPD system. I guess it depends on how long you plan to keep the truck and how much you drive it and for what reasons you have the truck. If the truck puts money on your pocket, hedge the bet in your favor. My Daddy taught me - It takes money to make money. Peace of mind is worth a lot to me and my business. May not be as important to others.

if it were me id put an OEM in it and call it done. do a flush before since you know your going to replace anyways at sometime that way the old cooler catches all the crap. the new coolers have bigger coolant passages so that they flow better. i havent heard of the new coolers going yet. as long as you do coolant flushes (which should be done even with BDP coolers) you will be fine! keep the cost low and 1000 for labor is kinda high but not outta the norm. thats just my 2 cents. as for the egr cooler its up to you both ways are good but for epa crap id get the bullet cooler being that they are on the rise for catching that crap
