no way to take it apart and clean it. Best option is just replace it. Not hard at all. Mines getting the same way

Mine did the same thing when I first bought the truck. The seat belt fabric was really stiff. I cleaned it with soap and water and it loosened up the fabric. Works just like new now. Try washing it. Our hands build up the oil on the fabric from grabbing it in the same sport every time.

Exclamation

Most of my vehicles that I've driven over 100,000 miles eventually develop the same problem. I just live with it & learn the habit of stashing the loose part of the belt behind the seat back.

I have the same problem. Mine is in a 2000 Excursion. It seems to be too loose. It rolls up and wont slide thru the slot. Maybe some starch would fix my problem...?

Anyone have the same issue?

Hit it with a hammer... no wait thats how you fix computers.

I would replace it, its easy and cheap. Plus if you forget to put it on it will be hanging out the door..

mine works fine at 186K, who needs tan?
Just kidding it does work fine because my state only requires those under 18 to buckle, but i did some searching and the general favorite seems to be the salvage yard route, saw one post that said the dealer quoted him 346$ for the part :/ ,good luck

EDIT:just had a look on fordparts.com and they seem to range from 200-500$
