7.3 3300 rpm in park for 2 minutes?

I have a 1997 7.3 powerstroke. I am testing an imtermittent cmp error and the manual says to run it in park at 3300 rpms for 2 minutes. Is this safe for the engine to do? It is just below the orange range on the tach.

Appreciate any help and God Bless you all,
Ed

I have NO CLUE as the the manual... but IF you do it make sure it's warmed up all the way first!

I wouldn't do it, even warm. I'd put a new cam sensor in, check wiring leading up to it, and anything else I could think of before doing the 3300rpm in park.

Did you get a code telling you about the cam sensor error?

That story reminds me of some of the states that have emission testing. I think I would tell them where to go before I did that!

X2 what Darin said. There is NO WAY I would free rev my truck that high that long.
