Auto start? Anyone got one?

Auto start? Anyone got one?
Kinda going to start looking into one for the woman,so she will actually let the truck warm up before taking off. So it's hopefully going to prolong the life of the Excursion's engine.
So I guess what I'm asking is,what's a good brand, and where do I start looking? Maybe an audio store? Are they damaging to the diesel engine? Any info would be helpful. Thanks

I hope there not damaging to diesels. I have one in mine and use it almost everyday in the winter time. Mines a Viper and I didn't even know I had it for four or five months of owning the truck. I was pressing buttons to test the radius of the aftermarket remote. The thing works great and has worked each and everytime. Push the button, your parking lights come on, the instrument cluster lights up, it waits one minute for the glow plugs to heat up and then fires the engine. It will then run for 15 minutes and shut off. I'm not sure who would sell and install them in your area though.

I live in the Imperial Valley. Do you guys know if your A/C will run or does the ignition have to be in the on position. I would imagine it does have to be on, but was wondering if somehow it can be wired to run some accessories. It would be nice to start the truck remotely and have a cool cab. Summers here are pretty bad.

The turbo timer or delayed shut off is built into most DEI systems. I think it's better to have the glow plug delay wired directly to the wait to start light. You definitely need to have the accessory turned on for it to work with remote start. But it also needs to be wired up to a relay to work. Most of the high end systems come with enough relays to turn on whatever accessories you would like to have on.
