NO POWER ON 75 F-150 w/460!

Driving home last night engine acted like it was running out of fuel, lost power but didn't die. As I was ascending an incline it lost power and was backfiring through carb and died. I thought maybe choke was sticking so I wired choke open and she started and ran enough to get me home although it was very low power and a few backfires. I'm thinking now that it may have jumped time or could it be something else? Truck has the 385 series 460 w/ C-4 trans an Airtex electric fuel pump to an Edelbrock #1406 600cfm carb. Any suggestions? I WILL NOT LET THIS TRUCK BEAT ME!!! "Thank the Lord for the "big block Ford"".

Could be as simple as a filter, when they start stopping up, it'll cause problems of this sort.

Also where is the airtex fuel pump located if it's not near the tank and level with it, it can cause problems. Electric fuel pumps are better at pushing fuel than drawing it.
As to whether or not it jumped time, a timing light will let you know 100 percent of the time (unless the balancer has slipped).

By the way 460s came with the C6 tranny not the C4.

I have good fuel through line at carb. also new filter in line and pump is brand new. Pump is located in frame rail at trans crossmember and wired to on circuit in ign. switch with relay and fuse. As for tranny it has the square pan cover not the offset "L" shape that C-6 has sooooo I'm assuming this to be a C-4

Interesting. That would be a very rare transmission.

When you shoot it with a timing light, let us know what it says. Then we can go from there.
