Howdy. I wanna drop a 4 cam GT500 motor in a 4x4 expedition. This will be a project truck in a few years when that damn motor ain't $32k.


I'm considering the 05-06 year expeditions because of their 4r75e transmissions. My first question is will a 4r75e bolt up to that motor. I know they are the same blocks as the 5.4 just bored over but still.

Question 2: this truck will need assisted steering no matter how I get it. Are the EPAS units available to buy and fix to one of these trucks?

And #3.. Should the stock 3.31 gears be kept because I like them. I like the brutal throwing you back in the seat kind of feeling.

Why not build the 5.4 thats already in it? Forged internals new cam maybe a procharger kit. All easier and cheaper than what your looking to do plus more power.
Why would you want to do all that to an expedition?

 

Would be cool to have and show plus the 5.8 is making power lower than I would expect the 5.4 3v or even 4v to which is a big plus on a heavy 4wd 4spd truck.


And the 5.8 I believe is rated at 17/24 or something along those lines. If I can get 15 normally on this beast and closer to 20 on trips I would be happy.

Just watched a f250 on the fast lane truck do a 5.02 0-60 at a mile above sea level just for a T-Shirt. Nonetheless, I wanna be that guy but with a baddass Expedition

 

Well at least you won't have to worry about sitting on a big lumpy wallet since there won't be any money in it. Big waste of money for sand lot bragging rights.

Both the standard and 600 have a 6.2L, the 600 get a supercharger.

 

Let me get this right. You want to spend big bucks on a 5.8l so that you can get better fuel mileage?

I think you said it right when you first mentioned it will be a "few" years. Maybe once you are a little older and wiser, the advise here within will sink in.
