You would need to get an oxygen sensor simulator for the downstream sensor or use something like a spark plug anti-fouler so that when the downstream sensor is screwed in it is held out of the exhaust flow.

WHY?? Yes this will disrupt your efi system.

you gain zero performance by removing a cat converter. not to mention its illegal. if your at all worried replace the cat in there with a hi flow cat.

As stated above, no you won't gain.

Unless you throw a complete intake setup, big cam, supercharger, a turbo, etc.... you will see NO gains.

Your motor can only flow so much CFM, and the stock cats will still out flow what you are going to put out.

And true duals.....not the best setup either. You will have no scavenging. Throw in an X or an H pipe. Not being a douche, just giving you some advice that will function.

well since ive been adding headers and exhaust to cars and trucks for 25yrs ive seen a gain on everyone that ive added too and no the stock does not flow as good as a dual setup. and as far as an x pipe or and h pipe yes they are good but ive decided to run a 40 series flowmaster with dual in and dual out so although not as good as an x or and h it does equalize the pressure.

how do you plan on working around the tcase? For duals to function properly they should be as straight as possible. The tcase being in the way will create to many bends resulting in no performance gain over a properly built 3" exhaust.
Do as you want, we are giving our opinions because we've been there done that.
Best of luck

i thank you for your opinions but their are plenty of people that have and do run headers with great results. and i had great results on my 95 with dual exhaust and their is actually plenty of room around the t case. but once again this is why i love this site is because we can give our opinions

Oh.. you won 't like the new Flowtechs, since Holley bought them out they have turned into complete crap.. nothing more than rebadged Hookers that don't fit worth a damn. I have a set on my truck right now. The headers to get now are from Pacesetter, very good fit and finish. I have to disagree with the others regarding the stock cats too, they're corks and you will see healthy gains by replacing them with just about anything else... though I would also recommend installing a universal aftermarket cat because they do improve tailpipe emissions without producing any noticable restriction. Installing exhaust on these 4wd trucks is more of a challenge.. enough to make true duals more work than it's worth since everything has to go down the passenger side anyway unless you're gonna do a hack job and run it under the chassis. And because it's all going down the pass side it's easier and cheaper to just build a single, no it won't quite sound the same as full duals but it'll perform as well or maybe even a little better, and you can still have dual outlets at the back if you like.

Here's how you get around the T-case with 2.5" mendrel bent tubing, it's not that hard but you still have to place the bends correctly to avoid contact. That pic shows an old set of Flowtechs by the way, look at how well they hide up beside the chassis.

Now here's the new Flowtechs, look at how low the collectors are and the crazy bends needed to get the pipes up over the trans crossmember.

also if you plan on upgrading to a solid front axle at any time the long tube headers wont fit.

I run headers and love them, never said not to run headers. I said you should run a hi flow cat first and foremost. Duals can be built to work like conanski has shown but in the end what are you really gaining?

I have a nice 3" Y-pipe and a magnaflow hi flow cat. Awesome performance boost plus I'm still legal. And I got to keep the EGR.
