WIRING issue!
Hey, I have an 86' f250 with a 6.9L. I reciently put new injectors, returnline kit, and fuel lines in it. Now she wont start.... i found a random *** wire (looks pulled) but i cant find where the heck it goes. i hooked a test light to positive terminal, touched the wire when i turn on the ignition and get positive. this means its a ground correct? doesnt light testlight until ignitions on.. its located right around behind alternator area but isnot part of the tach wire assembly. it does have a plug on it but after the plug it goes for about a foot and looks pulled exposing the wire. i dont believe its fuel pump. i dunno.. truck turns over n over. even used ether. flutters to life but dont fire! thanks guys!

Just some thoughts.
Have you checked your fuel shutoff solenoid for 12v when the ignition is on?
Could the wire be part of the 6.9 style fuel heater? (to the fuel line from the fuel pump up to the filter head)
There's a temperature switch just behind the alternator next to the thermostat housing. It should have 2 flat blade connectors on it. I've seen these broken off before.
If you could tell us the color code of the wire, we could tell you what it's to.
But first make sure you have 12v at your fuel shutoff solenoid. Next up if you've replaced your fuel lines, injectors and return kit, you'll have a bunch of air in the system. Have you been working to bleed the air from the lines or did you crank everything down tight and hope it'd fire right up? You'll likely need to bleed the air out before you have a snowballs chance in hell of it starting up.

How long did you try cranking the engine over after you did the ip and injectors? If you don't bleed the air out with the valve on the side of the filter head and just crank the engine over it will take a long time to to fire up.
