Sounded horrible in my opinion. Like either a split nozzle almost hydrolocking or a dead hole. The fact that the OP said it went away after a couple of miles, makes me think something relieved the pressure maybe a hole or rings gone, definitely see how much pressure is at the oil fill cap first.
Holy crap that blow by is caussed by warn piston rings or a cracked piston? That would mean I would have to pull the engine and do a full top end rebuild??
dont panic yet. valve covers are not that hard to take off...then you can see more of whats going on. like the guys said....may be something realtively simple like glowplug, push rod, etc.
i would remove the d/s valve cover first, to see any visible signs of things outta place, then check blowby..eitther way, the vlave/s need to be removed.
Yes, and had that dead or over compressed sound to one or two holes...

Because I run WVO my truck always takes longer to start.
What are the holes?
After I pull the valve covers is there a way to get a view of the pistons and cylinder walls with out to much more work? See what the WVO has done to my engine if it has done anything?

OK, pull the covers, check for something clearly messed up, fix it, then check for blow by.
no worries bro, like jim said it could just be a blown out glow plug. im about 40 min from Philadelphia..if you want send me a PM and ill give you my cell. I can walk you through anything you have questions with in regards to getting the VC off.

I just watched the video...
Jim might be on the right track. There was a video on here a while back of a salvage yard engine that sounded like that and it had blown out the glow plug. I'll try and find that thread...
I'd pull the valve covers and look for anything out of place. Look and see if any of the glow plug wires have been blown off. If everything looks normal, then you might try starting the engine with the VCs off and check for blow by and see if you have a lot of smoke out the exhaust.

Checking the blow-by via the cap-on-filler-tube method takes 15 seconds, so I'd do that first. Post up if good or bad so the forum can bench wrench it while you take off the VCs.
