Anyone here put headers on their van?

I'm really interested in maybe attempting this, but I'm a little concerned about the cost, the tight fit and the durability of headers. If I did it, I would hope for stainless steel as they are more resistant to rust-through. I'm having a hard time finding anything to fit my E-150. Any advice out there?

What year, what engine. I know that there are headers for the older engines such as the 302 & 351. I have even see alisting for the 460. I can't say if there are any available for the 4.6 or 5.4 as I never looked.

I have a 1990 351w FI. I know that one is available through Summit, but I'm probably going to just start with a nicer cat-back system for now since it's a lot easier to deal with and quite a bit cheaper as far as an exhaust mod is concerned.

I do like to dream though about someday having headers and nice dual exhaust system. LOL

I installed one on a '79 E100 with the 300 six. No mfg indicated that it would fit and without extensive surgery it would not have. I don't think I would do it again. I now have a 89' E350 with the 5.8L, and it looks like MAJOR work to get one to fit. Good luck.

Thanks for your thoughts. I took the doghouse off and peaked inside. Holy c**p. I would need a shoe horn to do it. Forget it. I think I'll stick with just messing with a "cat-back" modification. Thanks again.

Hooker has a listing for 2 set of headers for the 5.8L in a Ford van for that year. One is plain and the other coated. The coated costs about $230 more then the plain.

I have looked into doing the same thing on my "88/5.8L V8. The drivers side looks easy, the passenger side not so. I think you can do it if you pull off some of the acc. on the pass. side of the engine so you can access the front part of the cyl. head.

My plan is to do this as part of a cyl. head & cam swap I have planned. I plan on pulling the AC con. & radiator along with all the acc. and grill so I can access the front of the engine better. I have just about all the major parts now. I just need to wait for warm weather and spring of 2012. I have to work on it outside as the van won't fit in my garage, to tall.

I had a set on my old 74 E300 with a 302. Loved them. Had to loosen up a motor mount and jack the motor up toget them on. Wasn't bad at all.

Niw I'm looking for some for my E250 4x4.
