Freestar Recall

I didn't see a dedicated forum for Freestars so I thought this was the best place for it considering the other vehicles of similar dimensions and even the Flex which replaced the Freestar... Mods - If there is a more appropriate place for this thread please feel free to move and advise. Thanks!

So Freestars have a reputation for transmission issues specifically regarding the main power shaft failure. This occurred with my van 2 years ago at a pathetic 65k on the odometer costing me nearly $3k.

Ford has owned up to this issue with a recall as outlined here: Ford Recalls 450,426 Minivans And SUVs For Power Loss And Fire Risk | Fox News

The recall number for the tranny issue is: 11S25

The recall is only for the part and the R&R however, the customer service rep confirmed that, since my shaft actually failed which resulted in metal contamination throughout the transmission which required a rebuild to correct, that I may be eligible for some sort of reimbursement for all or part of the cost.

Off to the dealer with my receipts (so glad I saved them) to file a claim.
