Question I found some spare wires...

I was looking under the hood today trying to see about the cruise control recall repair, (since my cc does not work), and right in my face when I was on the driver's side of the truck, I see 4 wires protruding and taped back to one of the wiring harness'. I, being a newbie with the EX have no cluse what they might go to, but I am pretty sure they went to something at one point in time. So I am throwing this out there to the FTE peeps to see if one of you can tell me what they went to and is this my cc problem?

A shot to show the location...

The closeup for the colors, all solid colors, red, blue, white, and black...

They are just spare wires, the other ends are under the dash somewhere. Its to make it easier for you to wire up accessories through the firewall. I have them also.

That is the case. I've put more wire in My X than Ford did, and I still haven't used them. I'm saving them for something really special I guess.

Talking Feel better about it...

Thanks all, I knew I could count on you. I feel much better knowing that it is at least nothing that I have to sink money into to fix, and that it is optional, like maybe for gauges that I was eyeballing earlier on another thread.

I have an XLT which didn't come with fog/driving lamps. I had the dealer put them in, and those are the wires they used with the kit. I believe one of those wires turns your fogs off when you use your high beams, so I don't believe they are simply redundant wires. Now, if someone has those wires and their X came factory equipped with fogs, I'll stand corrected.

Now you just have to sink money into something to hook those wires up to. Can't wait to see where it goes...

mine has factory installed fogs and has the wires also. I was told they are the excursion equivalent of the "upfitter switches" that the trucks got, which aren't wired to anything in particular.
