I have currently been looking to trade in my '05 F-150 in for a 3/4 ton 6.0L PSD. I found a 2004 6.0L F-250 with 69,000 mi on it, but I have been reading posts regarding problems about this engine on numerous occasions. Like always there have also been a lot of positive posts on this engine and I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on purchasing a 6.0L PSD.

I did alot of research on this forum before purchasing my truck and consider that this time was very well spent. Much of the information I obtained help me to purchase a truck that has served me well. Below are some of my standard recommendations on what to look for and links to review.

· Get an Oasis report and CarFax report - if either points to a history of mechanical problems walk away
· Check for coolant puking
· Look for a truck with no aftermarket performance modifications
· Try to find out as much as possible about the routine maintenance and compare the history to the Ford recommendations - routine maintenance is the key to long term reliability
