Making a 302 fit with the stock steering box

Am I missing something? I have what I think are block hugger headers and no matter how I position the engine the flange runs almost right into the stock steering box. Am I missing something? Do I need to relocate the box or is the answer right in front of me.

This is on a 55 putting a 302 in it.

You may just need different headers. That engine is very narrow, and I know it fits very easy in a F-1. With the extra width in the F-100, it should be even easier. I would say moving the steering box is not an option without opening up a huge can of worms, unless planning an entire suspension change.

The ones to use are from Summit (summit racing #SUM-G9063- Summit Racing Block Hugger Headers )and Speedway Motors; most other will interfere with the axle or steering box. These are the ones I'm getting after I change out my top-end.

Not planning on it with this build.

Did they work? Did you make your own exhaust tubing and what did finally wind up looking like?

Thanks!
