yeah my brother couldn't afford better headers so he bought a set of hookers, high temp paint like yours, they were rusted through at the bends in about 18 months. Cheap pieces of ****. I wouldn't waste the money again. He replaced them with a set of ceramic coating, which crumbled in places, and they lasted like 3 years before rusted out.

My other brother, after seeing this, bought the aforementioned L&L's.. he traded them to a friend of mine eventually, I was just looking at them in his shop a week or two ago, they look like new even though they've been used on a mudbogger for 8 years.

So my opinion is that if you can't afford L&L's you might as well wait until you can, because swapping headers/exhaust is a pain

Well pretty like the old rule of thumb, "ya get what you pay for". The Hedman's I am running are showing some surface rust, but have been good for like 3 years.

But its definitely a mud only truck, NO highway use, so its not a real fair test. Fenderwell exit headers are easy to swap IMO.

JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS AND CHASSIS EXIT HEADERS, lol.

Maybe run cheapies while you are saving up the $598 to $688 to get the good L&L ones? I have heard mixed reviews on their fit, I have 2 sets of fenderwell exit ones I bought (stole) at the auto swap for $100 apiece.

They are going on two different projects someday......good luck and hope my advice helps in the swap out of what ever brand you use.

Ya, I figured uncoated headers wouldn't last real long, which sucks, but currently there is no manifolds or anything on this truck, it's in the process of a body swap so the headers will go on before the front clip...I would like to wait and buy a good set, but I really need to get this thing back on the road and quick.

Well get some new stock exhaust manifolds, yea still kinda pricey. The dvrs side is always cheaper than the pass side for some reason? But at least you can get it on the road.

Rock Auto might be the best $$ ??? Would not suggest used from a JY.

Looked them up on RockAuto, 105 for the left, 90 for the right, so basically the same price, my Hookers are already on their way, So I'll just try to keep them clean and get as much life as I can. Idk what was on my 150 before but they didn't have any rust problems other then a little surface rust.

Should be installing them this weekend pending jegs gets them here before friday. I'll let everyone know what I think

Glad to hear the prices have leveled out on them, but sounds like you got it covered with the headers on order.

Maybe you could take them to a hot rod shop and get them power coated or something like that???

I would have sent you a stock pair of manifolds for the price of shipping.

Now you put that offer on the table.....just kidding, that's pretty nice of you. Sounds like he has a handle on things.

What is your opinion of putting used exhaust manifolds on a different eng? Ever heard of a problem from that?

My 75 is a work truck, so it doesn't get driven every day, but I have had the Hookers on for about 6yrs and they have not fallen to pieces. They are rusted, due in part to an engine fire, but for a temporary fix, they'll do just fine. When I build my engine I will probably buy another set and just pay $130 to have them ceramacoated, but we'll see, the fenderwell exits sound great.
