I hate to be the one to say this but Hastings piston rings are junk as are Fram filters. Did you check the gaps on the rings ? They are usually too wide and I had trouble with them seating. I won't use them again.

thanks but the rings fit and worked great, all the gaps were just perfect. the filter is old beat to hell as you can see its painted dented and not good. I will obviously be changing the filter. also got new plugs, wires, cap rotor and all the good stuff.

Installed valve springs and new seals. bolted on heads, installed lifters, pushrods, rockers. put the oil pump, pan water pump intake ect on.

everything tied up great. motor turns free no binding, cam seems good. tomorrow get it off the engine stand, bolt on clutch and transmision and prep it to install into the truck. hopefully get it fired up in the next couple days.

Call me "subscribed". When I swap my 400 from the basement to under the heads in the truck, I'll have same set up. Love to see it turn out well for you.

actually is a custom box. its a shortened short box. supercab 4x4s only came in a long box.

motor is in. got everything under the truck done, now its just bolting on accessories and all the other parts. plan to probably get it fired up tomorrow. I need to get some bolts to fix my front clip, cant find 2 bolts and need to get a broken rusted bolt out and get it all finished too.
