shorted my CPP wires, cruise not working anymore

Just as title says, I had the cpp wire jumped to work my cruise control but ended up shorting the paperclip on the firewall and now cruise isn't working, took the paperclip out and stripped the wires and soldered em together, checked some fuses, don't know which is for cruise, didn't check the under hood fuse box

Pretty pissed off at myself I should've soldered em in the first place, im thinking I fried something

What can I check?

I'd start by checking all the fuses with a test light, including under the hood. When you short a wire, it's supposed to blow a fuse. That's what they're there for.

Double check fuse #19 it is the power for the CPP, If it isn't blown then because it leads strait to the PCM.

****, and if it blew the pcm then what? the truck still runs great just cruise isnt working, could there be something in the cruise control circuit? maybe an inline fuse, I know the harness that connects to the sensor on the master cyl is new because of some ford recall

I tried doing the cruise control diagnostic and it didnt even go into diagnostic mode

The diagnostic sequence that I was following is listed below (posted by pops_91710 amoung others) I haven't gotten anything to work out of it yet, hopefully you will have better luck.

Try this test:
Diagnosing/Resetting the Cruise-Control operations:

1. fully engage parking brake. Make sure brake peddle is released.

2. Begin static portion of self test by pressing and holding speed control off switch.

3. Turn ignition switch from off to run. The cruise indicator on the instrument cluster will flash once to indicate the speed control module has entered diagnostic mode.

If the cruise indicator does not flash repeat steps 1-3. If the cruise indicator still does not flash, diagnose the cruise indicator.

4. Release the off switch

5. The cruise indicator will flash when each switch is pressed. While performing self test. Press each switch in the order described while observing cruise indicator for a flash. Note any switch activations that does not cause a flash.

Within five seconds of turning the ignition switch to RUN:

Press the on switch.
Press the resume switch.
Press the coast switch.
Press the set/accel switch.

6. NOTE: the on switch must be pressed within five seconds after entering the diagnostics mode or the speed control module will return to normal operating state and self-test must be repeated.

Flash Code Function Tested Possible Cause
0 Speed Control Servo Speed Control Servo Defective
1 Complete System
2 Stop Light Switch Circuitry Stop Light Switch Circuitry
3 Brake Deactivation Circuitry Brake pressure control
valve defective circuitry
4 Vehicle speed sensor Vehicle Speed Sensor Out of
range
5 Speed Control Servo Speed Control servo defective

IIRC when Ford does that recall they install a in line fuse, not sure where they put it but take around the brake master cylinder.

I believe the Cruise Control recall harness has a fuseable link and not an inline fuse. You could try removing the harness done for the recall, it just goes between the two original connectors. If you remove it you can also then check the wires for end-to-end continuity.

Here is a wiring diagram in PDF. You will find the CPP switch in the bottom right hand corner. Not much to it really.

this may sound dumb but what is the difference between a fusible link and inline fuse

If there is too much draw a fuseable link will melt and open the circuit. It is like having a piece of solder wire inline in the circuit.

Well the new harness did not have a fuseible link, it had two inline fuses, they were 2 amp each and neither were blown, I put a fresh fuse in #19 and no go

Looks like im in deep crap, is there anything else I can check?
