Is 10,000 miles on oil and filter a typo? I run 15w-40 Rotella and follow 3k if working hard and 5k when not. every 50k I might add a bottle of Lucas. 200k on '96-162k on '95 330k on '89 etc.

10,000 oil and filter is NOT a typo, it is correct (and counting). Every 3-5k on changing oil is way over kill, imo.(If you are out in the fields everyday sucking up crap, I would go with 3-5k timeline) You are replacing new oil for what I would say is new oil. Do you think that an over the road trucker would change is oil every 3,000 miles? I am not saying to go 50,000 miles with out an out change... but I think that it is fine to push above 10,000 if you are not abusing the truck and keep the air flow good.
It is 'time' for me to change the oil and filter 'now', and I will 'get to it' in a week or a month....

I worked at a place where we had over the road trucks, some of which logged a million miles. The key difference is they WERE over the road. The kept moving, kept idling and kept using oil, which meant that it was replaced. Our trucks SIT most likely 16 hours a day and in my case as much as days in between starting. Your truck dumps ash same as mine. I won't go that far. My '05 tractor says 300 hours between changes, the old ones 100. I don't go 300 hours either. Oil and filters are cheaper than over hauls. Besides, I'm lazy.

Very wise words to follow. With 270K on my motor, I can tell a difference with new oil. Even at 5K between changes. It's cheap insurance anyway.

To check Low Pressure Oil you will need a mechanical gauge.

Alright the new oil and filters seemed to work. Coldest morning so far (40) only let it run long enough to hook a trailer and no problems.
Thanks again guys.
