1948 Parts fit 1947?

HI. Have a 1947 Truck and was thinking of putting a big block and a five speed into it. Was wondering if there are any major differences between a 1947 and 1948 Ford truck in tearms of mechanical and chassis/ suspensions parts. I ask becuase alot of the Hot Rod parts dealers say 1948-1957 in their ads. Haven't seen many that offer 1947. Also wondered about using the stock frame and putting an IRS in it or going to a Ranger chassis. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated!!

I have a 48 pickup that I did a frame up rebuild 12 years ago. I found that quite a few chassis parts remained the same and I have ordered 46/47 parts for my 48.

Ford usually changed part numbers when changing a model so you might not be able to go by the original pn, but pictures and descriptions help. Look thru Mac's catalog for pre-48 trucks and compare with their 48-up catalog and you'll see what I mean.

If you need any specific measurements, just ask and the guys will be happy to supply you with most anything.

Here's Macs

MAC's Antique Auto Parts

Another good one is Sacramento Vintage Ford

http://flatheadv8.org/phpBB/index.ph...0fc2b79538b8f7

For the best website on flatheads - repair, maintenance, daily driving, racing and everything inbetween - scroll down to the page for parts suppliers

Ford Flathead V8 .. 1932 thru 1953 • Index page

Any google search for flathead parts suppliers will bring up tons of links - a little sorting and you'll have all you need.

Mack Hils for sheetmetal parts on the box, etc.
