Dash Warning Lights going Crazy

2004 F350 4x4 6.0, 205K miles, most things that bolt to engine have been replaced, plus a bunch of things inside too. Original Turbo and Trans. The most recent repair was the High-pressure oil pump and a related computer board (not sure which board).

While driving down the freeway the "Check Gauges" light came on and "Tow/Haul" light started flashing. The dash Trans Temp and the add-on Trans Temp gauges showed zero.

Pulled off the road and checked trans fluid: temp and color seemed normal, didn't smell burnt. Truck seems to operate normally, except for the light show. drove the last few miles to work and noticed the dash light on the lower left showing the outline of an engine was on, too.

Besides putting it out of its misery, does anyone have some thoughts on what I'm might be looking at?

Thanks!

I let the truck sit for an hour and then drove it around the block...

Trans Temp gauges are working and now only the "engine outline" light is on. Truck seems to be running okay.

Any thoughts on what's up?

The transmission fluid temperature sensor will cause the symptoms you described when they fail. A semi-common failure on the Torqshift transmission. I have replaced more than a few. Not a necessarily expensive sensor/repair and you change the fluid and in pan filter depending on the model year while replacing the sensor. If course there is always an outside chance there is an issue with the wiring but that is far less common than the TFT sensor.
