Passenger and Driver Side Air Bags
Hello all
Just a quick question, I am trying to find out if my Truck has Passenger and Driver Side Air Bags and am hoping someone can tell me if it would from the model and the VIN.
I want to fit a child seat to the truck and need to know if my vehicle has air bags .
I have been told that apparently they can be deactivated if I do have them.
The Truck is an Australian 2005 F250 XL single cab chassis with the 7.3.
The VIN number starts with 9BFJF21F95B.
There are no indications on the dash or steering wheel that air bags are present.
I am guessing that the truck does not have air bags but due to the reason for wanting to know I must be 100 percent sure.

In the states I it's equipped with air bags it will be clearly indicated on the vin plate that you see through the wind screen on the front edge of the dash, also the steering wheel will have SRS (supplemal restraint system) imprinted on it, if passenger side is present the SRS will be imprinted into the dash. You can also check under the dash for the air bag control module it will have all sorts of warning do not cut or alter labels on it's wiring and it will have only blue or yellow wiring in separate harnesses coming off it.

Post a photo of your steering wheel and passenger dash. All SDs had airbags in the US by government mandate, but if that is not the law in Australia, you may not have them. The panels on the steering wheel and passenger side are required to indicate 'SRS' or 'AIRBAG' if they have them. This is true in all countries. Also, being you have a regular cab, if you did have airbags, you would also have a passenger airbag deactivation switch on the dash to the right, or in your case to the left, of the radio.

This is an American thing and not necessarily true of airbag equipped vehicles in the rest of the world. The air bag warning on the visor in Canada actually talks about how to use the seat belts properly with airbags, whereas all US cars talk about is airbag usage with babies and car seats. Another point that the US government concentrates to much on one thing while sacrificing something else.

Ok I have been to see our local Ford dealer and he was able to look up my VIN and it came up that it has no Airbags. We kind of worked that out already but just had to be 100 percent sure.
Thanks all for your replies.
As you said JC my truck is very basic, which I kind of like, but a glovebox certainly would be a plus.
Dont know whether you noticed but because we are Downunder the steering wheel is on upside down.

I like basic as well. I do not understand how you guys shift with your left hand. I am right handed, as is most of the world's population, so shifting with the right makes sense, but with the left? Plus, what's even more is that the pedals are in the same configuration, as are the gear locations, so the lower gears are away from the driver.
