Where did WTF come from? Had no idea there were links for this information. Merry Christmas.

This is not a VIN, this hodge-podge (the way you typed it) is found on the 2nd line of the Warranty Plate.

Reads: 117 A F104 M4 G 17J / The 11 digit VIN is found on the registration and on the 1st line of the Warranty Plate.

This tag is on my Galaxie 500 rear end WER-C
WDM-AY = Ford 9" rear axle / 3.25-1 / non Limited Slip / 3,300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity / 4DC = Assembled the 3rd week (C) of April (D), 1974 (4).

WER-C = Ford 8.7" integral Rear Axle / 2.80-1 / The WER-C code was used for 1967/69 Galaxie/LTD's.

The WER rear axle is 1967/80 Passenger Car related only. Was used in misc 1967/78 Galaxie/LTD, 1975/80 Granada/Monarch.

117" Wheelbase.

A = Raven Black.

F104 = F100 2WD Pickup, 5,000 lbs. GVWR.

G = Automatic Transmission. If a 240/300/302 = C4 / If a 360/390/460 = C6.

M4: M = Black Vinyl & Black Cloth / 4 = Styleside Pickup.

17J: 17 = See decode of WDM-AY / J = Power Steering.

WTF indeed! Why do you send members to a rival website to get the info, when it can be found here on FTE?

The WER-C info the OP requested will not be found on Fordification, because it's Passenger Car related.

It's easier to use and already bookmarked.

<TABLE style="BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" id=table2 border=1 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="98%"><TBODY><TR><TD bgColor=#fae9d1>WER-C</TD><TD>Ford Pass., Mercury '67-'69</TD><TD align=middle>2.80</TD><TD align=middle>8 1/2 in</TD><TD align=middle>NL</TD><TD align=middle>-</TD><TD align=middle>Non-Removable Carrier</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Incorrect statement. Fordification lists 17 pages of axle codes for passenger cars and trucks from 1963 to 2001.

I don't give a rats behind what Fordification lists. At one time when peeps here typed a ref to it, FTE x'd it out.

Besides, I've looked at some of their decode info...it's wrong, because it was taken from that awful red book, not from Ford parts catalogs.

So...use it at your own risk.

Every page over at fordification lists the source of the info. The VIN decoding pages specifically state that the info comes from the Ford Master Parts Catalog. The only page there that doesn't come from the MPC is the production numbers. Since those aren't available to the general public except through a Marti Report, they use the same source that you've used yourself on numerous occasions...the Standard Catalog of Ford Trucks and yes, the Ford Pickup Red Book. (But a disclaimer at the top of that page also states that the numbers posted can't be relied upon and are therefore just there as a general estimate.)

It's my impression that while YOU might think of them as a "rival", and do your best to cast dispersions upon the accuracy of their data with sarcasm, they're there just to help others...and 99.999% of the time, their info is correct. A large percentage of your posts, on the other hand, are literally dripping with sarcasm and egoism. Get over yourself and grow up!
