fords new commercials - bashing the bailout

There is a program called Ford: Rebuilding an American Icon airing this Wednesday at 9:00pm on CNBC. They (Ford) talk about dumping a lot their assets which put them in a better position while others were asking for money. Yes, Ford does carry debt, but I'm sure the others do as well.
Alan Mulally has done a good job leading the company, and I think made them competitive in the industry again.

The irony here for Ford is that had the guberment not bailed out Chrysler and GM, the entire domestic auto industry would have imploded and taken Ford down in the process.
How are you supposed to build cars when all your suppliers tanked due to Chrysler and GM folding?
Stupid Marketing/Advertisers are stupid.

The commercial was not rehearsed. Look here: Customer in controversial Ford bailout slam ad responds to critics on YouTube

another problem was chrysler was bought prior to the bailout by a company looking to buy it and sell it for a profit. chrysler products took a definite dive in quality around this time. they also decided to no longer make the neon which was chryslers only small car offering. the neon had developed a small following in the youth market. chrysler scrapped the whole deal opting "not to compete with the japanese" it was a blunder of biblical proportions. most caused by this investment group looking to make a quick buck, when mercedes sold their ownership,
GM well, I know they have a loyal following but I remember how much junk they made in the mid to late 90's and even the early 2000's, truly pathetic build quality. go look at a beretta, lumina, astro, and get back to me.
bottom line is they both should have been forced to bankruptcy union contracts could have been shed and the companies would have been lean and mean, delta filed for bankruptcy and they are still in business. so would the car companies.
to be fair ford made their share of garbage, the taurus and windstar come to mind, bottom line is if I want a regular car, why on earth would I not buy a toyota or honda. that is the problem american companies have. they made crap, while the japanese made quality. the resale and reliablity is better with toyota and honda.
